Divided by an ocean yet united in the Cause of Freedom. The friendship of Sir Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt saved the democratic world in the Second World War. Both born in the 19th Century they prevented a New Dark Age in the 20th. What has been called the ‘Special Relationship” of Britain and America is thankfully a continuation of the special friendship of these two leaders. Though at times their visions of the future diverged their impact on the world of today is indelible and undeniable.
